Everyone is being hit with the rising cost of living at the moment. But for some families, even doing everything right, it’s becoming increasingly hard to make ends meet.
That's why I hosted two roundtables recently, one in Maidstone and one in Faversham, to bring local organisations together to discuss how we can make sure support reaches those that need it.
Local authorities like Kent County Council, Mid Kent Services, and Swale and Maidstone Borough Councils have already been working hard to roll out schemes locally, as well as trying to make sure that people are aware of the support available.
But with many people who have never needed financial support before now struggling it’s not always easy to find out who they are.
It’s so important to reach out if you’re struggling. There is government support available, and so many wonderful local charities doing their best to help. Very often people aren’t claiming help already owed to them, like Pension Credit.
These are difficult times, but we will get through them. The cost of standing up to Putin’s war in Ukraine will not last forever. In the meantime it’s vital that support reaches those that need it
