Finding a good nursery is so important for parents and children.
It was great to visit Lenham Nursey last week to talk to some of the Trustees and staff about their plans for the future.
The nursery is a real local success story. Having started on the same site as Lenham Primary School, the nursery is now looking to expand.
I’m delighted to be supporting Lenham Nursery in their bid for funding from Maidstone Borough Council which would allow them to move to a site across the road and increase their capacity.
Talking to some of the children at the nursery, it’s clear why it’s so popular. I was really impressed by their confidence and how well they can read.
I’m continuing to support local schools and nurseries to make sure every child in Faversham and Mid Kent achieves their potential. I was pleased that two local schools were included in the latest round of the Condition Improvement Fund – helping to keep their buildings in good working order.
As Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, I’m working to make childcare more affordable for parents across the country – including promoting our Tax-Free Childcare scheme which is worth £2,000 per year for each child.
