Faversham's swing bridge has been out of action for far too long.
Getting it working again could give our town - especially the area around the creek - a real boost, and I've been bringing the parties involved together to try and find a solution. Discussions have stalled on who should be paying for the repairs.
Local campaigners are convinced that Peel Ports (the company with maritime responsibilities for the bridge) should be providing funding - but they're denying that.
I'm determined to find a way forward, and that's why this week I met with the Maritime Minister Baroness Vere to ask for the Government's help.
They've asked both parties to provide a stack of evidence, and will consider what's in their power to help us get these repairs moving forward.
Frustratingly they can’t click their fingers and solve this overnight, but as a town we want to make sure all possible pressure is brought to bear on Peel Ports to get our bridge back up and running.
