More local arts and culture groups are benefitting from Government support during the pandemic.
Nearly £400 million in funding has been allocated to arts and culture organisations across the country in the second round of funding from the Culture Recovery Fund. I’m pleased that a number of local groups have been successful in securing funds.
Performing arts groups Acrojou, café and music venue The Hot Tin, and the Urban Soul Orchestra have been awarded £156,526 between them.
This is crucial funding to help some of our much-loved culture and arts groups get through the pandemic and get back on their feet once live performances are possible again.
The funding is part of a £1.57 billion support package for culture announced last year. Previous rounds of funding have seen other local arts and culture groups, including the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, benefit from support.
As a former Arts Minister, I know just how important culture and the arts are to our society and economy. I want to see to our theatres and music venues come back to life with live performances as soon as this is possible.
In the meantime, it’s good news that more local arts and culture groups are getting support to help them through this difficult time.
