People often tell me they just want politicians to get on and deliver Brexit. Boris Johnson has set out how he plans to do this – aiming for a deal to unite the country. I am confident he will rise to the challenge of leading our country at this difficult time.
I know there are many other things, besides Brexit, that people care about. I welcome the commitment from Boris to speed up the delivery of full-fibre broadband and boost per pupil school funding. Both of these will be good for Kent.
Boris has won a clear majority of support from Conservative MPs and party members. As Deputy Chair of the Party, I am proud to have been part of a leadership contest that showed the Conservative Party at its best. We had two excellent candidates who were tested in 16 hustings across the country, including one at Detling in my constituency.
We now need to come together to deliver the result of the referendum and unite our country.
