As a child I had a huge marmalade cat called Nutkin who was always playing practical jokes, so I was delighted to open a new Homing and Information centre for cats in Maidstone - just one of the many wonderful things I get the opportunity to do as a Member of Purr-liament!
The home, in Newnham Court Shopping Village, is run by Cats Protection, a fantastic charity that finds loving homes for unwanted cats like Fluffy in the picture here, and raises awareness of cat welfare.
It will house up to 10 cats at any one time, and it is open each day from 9am to 6pm except Fridays (10.30am to 4.30pm) and Sundays (10am to 4pm).
Visitors can also learn more about the charity’s cat welfare work, meet cats in need of adoption and find out information on other unwanted cats in Kent.
To adopt a cat from the Maidstone Homing & Information Centre call 01634 232 471, email [email protected] or log on to www.bredhurst.cats.org.uk
