Patients using public transport will have an easier journey to Estuary View Medical Centre following my campaign to upgrade links from Faversham.
There’s now a new bus stop in the forecourt of Whitstable station along with new timetable and destination posters. The station manager has also agreed to install signs directing patients to the correct bus stop in the station itself.
This will make a big difference to Faversham and I’m so pleased I could help. Being in a position to make tangible improvements to people’s lives is the best thing about being an MP.
A number of constituents contacted me complaining that travelling from Faversham to Estuary View was difficult and time-consuming. On 15 June I did the journey myself; it took over an hour.
I found getting the 36 bus from Whitstable station extremely confusing as there were no signs indicating which was the correct bus stop and the timetables were out-of-date.
I found it challenging as a healthy person; it would be almost impossible for someone very ill or with young children.
I raised my concerns with Chris Brown, Chief Executive of East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, and he’s been working with Southeastern Railways and Stagecoach to deliver these changes to the route.
I’ll be putting pressure on the local NHS to keep transport options under review.
