My thoughts are with all the victims of yesterday’s disgusting attack, but especially the loved ones and colleagues of PC Keith Palmer. He died doing his duty, keeping us safe.
The police and security services did an impressive job yesterday – their bravery and professionalism, even as they were grieving for the loss of one of their own, is extraordinary.
This was an assault on our democracy, and on a symbol of freedom recognised all over the world.
We stand firm in the face of this attack. The attacker may have wished to undermine our society and way of life, but instead we are filled with more determination than ever to uphold our values and resist the evil of organisations like Daesh and their affiliates. This attack will have the exact opposite effect of what we imagine he intended.
Thanks to PC Palmer, and his colleagues in the Police and security services, my staff and I are carrying on our work on behalf of constituents undeterred.
I'd like to reassure constituents that my office is still working as normal, and ask people who are seeking my help not to be deterred either - but to contact me and my staff as usual.
