I’ve just had an update from the Culture Minister Ed Vaizey on the progress of the Government’s superfast broadband scheme.
He told me that, in the three months to June, 944 houses and businesses got connected thanks to the publicly funded programme. A further 2,207 premises in Mid-Kent will have access to download speeds of at least 24Mbps by 2017.
This is great news, but with 5,776 black spots still not covered, there’s more to do. I’ll be keeping the pressure and trying to get broadband to the hardest-to-reach parts of my constituency.
