Last week I had the huge privilege of welcoming the Roads Minister Guy Opperman to Brenley Corner to show him first-hand the improvements we need to see at the junction on a busy Monday morning.
The Prime Minister made a commitment to upgrading Brenley Corner back in November, and I am pushing to get the works started as soon as possible. The upgrade would be a big win for the local area and something which I have campaigned for ever since I became an MP.
Guy showed me three options that National Highways and the Department for Transport are currently considering and evaluating before deciding on a way forward. Whilst they may seem a while off yet, Brenley Corner improvements will make life better for residents of Faversham and the nearby villages, and anyone travelling to Dover too, meaning the end of hours upon hours stuck in queues up to the junction.
Although spades aren’t going to be in the ground tomorrow, I’m pleased that it is moving in the right direction.
