Operation Stack may not be in the news at the moment, but I want to make sure there is no repeat of the chaos it caused last summer.
The Government is investing £250 million in a new lorry park, but until that is built we need an alternative to closing the M20 when there is disruption at the Channel Crossings.
I asked Roads Minister Andrew Jones what contingency measures are in place and what progress is being made towards completing the lorry park.
He told me that Manston Airfield is available to be used as part of Operation Stack if necessary in the short-term until the lorry park is ready.
He added that Highways England are in the process of responding to the public consultation over the location of the lorry park.
