It’s wonderful that our treasured Magna Carta is now on show for everyone to see.
I was delighted to join the Mayor of Faversham (and King Henry VIII!) for the official opening of a new permanent exhibition in Faversham Town Hall, 12 Market Place.
Despite being one of our town’s greatest treasurers, very few people have been able to see it, which is something I have been working with the Town Council to put right.
The Magna Carta will now be permanently displayed alongside the Faversham Charters and other local artefacts, with admission free to all.
Together with Faversham’s charter from Henry VIII and historic maps, the new display means more people can appreciate Faversham’s history.
Lots of people have so worked hard to make this happen, and it’s great news for the town - a boost for local tourism and hospitality as people will travel from far and wide to see it.
Faversham is a town with so much history, it’s only right that we show it off.
