Andrew Jones, the Parliamentary under Secretary of State in the Department of Transport, has said that a new lorry park to relieve pressure on Kent's roads from Operation will be built "as soon as possible".
It follows the Chancellor's announcement last week that the Government is investing £250 million in Kent's roads.
Andrew Jones wrote to me to say, "My expectations are to see a lorry park delivered as soon as possible and I will be urging Highways England to do dos. I will keep a close watch on progress via my monthly meetings with their Chief Executive."
Mr Jones thanked me for campaigning for a solution to Operation Stack and said, "I am delighted to be the Roads Minister as the Government has prioritised investment to solve this national problem."
