Metal barriers have finally been installed at Junction 8 of the M20 to prevent HGVs parking illegally.
I wrote to Highways England asking for this work to be done in November.
They responded, telling me that they expected barriers to be installed by April (you can read the letter here).
In March there was still no sign of the barriers and the temporary cones had been removed, so I wrote to Highways England again. This time they said the installation would be carried out "during the 2016/17 financial year" (you can read more here). I didn't think this was good enough, so I wrote a third time asking why the timeline had slipped.
I have now received a letter from Highways England apologising for not keeping me up-to-date and confirming that the work will be completed in June. You can read the letter here (read it here).
This is great progress, but fly-parking is still a big problem in Kent so we need to press ahead with getting a lorry park built as soon as possible.
