I am very concerned about plans to close down Amicus Horizon’s Office in Faversham.
I have spent time with Amicus and appreciate the work they do supporting the community. They have joined me at my constituency surgeries and we are frequently in contact about housing issues. However, I am really disappointed that they are planning to close their Faversham office
I think it’s very important that they continue to have a base in Faversham. Sittingbourne can be tricky to get to, particularly if you have mobility problems, and it’s expensive for people on low incomes. I worry about residents who struggle to use email or fill in forms. I know from my work as Faversham’s MP that some people need a face-to-face meeting to be able to explain their situation. That’s why I do regular advice surgeries around the area, and that’s why Amicus need to be in Faversham. I have asked the Chief Executive of Amicus to reconsider, and will also ask Swale Borough Council what influence they can bring to bear.
