Consultation on the Headcorn Neighbourhood Development Plan begins today.
Neighbourhood Plans allow local people to determine the future development of their own communities. They put policies in place which all future planning applications must satisfy before being approved.
Headcorn Parish Council has canvassed local views through a series of consultations, surveys and public meetings and worked with Maidstone Borough Council to prepare the neighbourhood development plan.
Maidstone Borough Council is consulting residents on the plan and will hold an independent examination and then a referendum before deciding whether to adopt the plan.
Copies of the plan and supporting documents will be available to download at www.maidstone.gov.uk/consultations from 15 January. Hard copies will also be available at Maidstone Gateway, King Street, Maidstone; the Kent History and Library Centre on James Whatman Way; Headcorn Library; and the Headcorn Parish Council Office.
Residents have until 5pm on 26 February to submit comments. Comments received after the closing date will not be considered.
Representations should be made using the consultation response form available online, by email to [email protected] or post to Spatial Policy, Maidstone Borough Council, Maidstone House, King Street, Maidstone, ME15 6JQ.
